You x Dave Strider: A Night Under The Stars

You awoke to your alarm clock ringing. "Shut up" you muttered as your hand slammed down on top of it. Normally you would go back to sleep but today you made an exception because it was your first day at a new school. You missed your friends from your old school but you also thought it was a good time for a fresh start so you didn't mind.

You got ready for school and left the house quickly as you thought of how unlikely it was for you to be leaving this early. Then you walked out of your door ready to start a new adventure.

When your school was in sight you were surprised how big it was. You had been at your old school for many years and you now realized how small it really was.

As you approached the school you thought you saw someone who looked familiar. It only had to take a few more steps to realize who it was. "Strider" you muttered under your breath smiling.

Dave Strider was your best friend and rival from kendo class. You first met five years ago when you were sparring in class because there was controversy about who was the best in the class at kendo. But the fight went on for too long without a victor so it was called a tie.

After that both of you always practiced together to make sure one didn't get better than the other and both of you over time just became pretty close.

Dave (who you normally called Strider) was sitting under a tree scratching pictures in the dirt with a long stick. The stick reminded you of a katana, which gave you an idea. You picked up a long stick from the ground like the one Dave was holding and you swiftly ran behind him hoping to launch a surprise attack.

When you were in range you brought down your stick as fast as you could. "Did I hit him?" you asked yourself. It didn't take you long to realize that Dave blocked your attack. Dave looked back at you smiling "Challenge accepted" he said countering your attack.

Now this went on for a while just like every time you sparred in kendo class. Dave would attack and you would block then you would attack and Dave would block and so on.

It was actually a pretty intense stick fight and not long after both of you started fighting you had an audience. "Fight, fight, fight..." the big crowd of students shouted but you and Dave were too focused on your battle to worry about that.

Then a teacher appeared "What is going on here?" he asked. Without a reply he yelled, "Break it up and get to your classes." Quickly the crowd dispersed and made their way to their classrooms.

However you and Dave did not. Both of you were very into your intense battle and did not have time to realize what was going on around you. Both of you continued fighting as if nothing happened.

Then the teacher walked right up to both of you and shouted, "Stop right this instant." Startled both of you dropped your sticks right away. "You are both going to the principle's office right now" the teacher said.

"Come on, it was just some sticks," Dave said trying to sound cool. "It is a form of violence and will not be tolerated in this school," the teacher snapped back.

Both of you followed the teacher in silence to the principle's office and took a seat. You were lectured about safety, violence and stuff like that. To be honest you couldn't really care.

Your mind began to wonder thinking how Dave was so lucky to be wearing sunglasses. He could be sleeping this entire time without anyone knowing.  After what seemed like hours the principle finally stopped talking and both of you were asked to go to your classrooms.

Once you and Dave got into the hall both of you started laughing. "This is gonna be great. I can't believe we are going to the same school," You said happily. "Yeah, it's pretty cool," Dave, replied. You both gave each other a fist pump and headed to class.

You're not gonna lie that was one of the most boring classes you've sat through. Another time when you wish you were wearing sunglasses so if you drifted off to sleep no one would notice.

"5…4…3…2…1…" you were counting the seconds until lunchtime. As soon as the bell rang you rushed out of the classroom. You then grabbed your lunch and met up with Dave. Both of you decided to bring your sticks up to the roof and practice your kendo there so you wouldn't be seen.

This basically became your routine every lunch. You and Dave would meet up on the roof and practice your kendo. Soon both of you started bringing your wooden katanas because your sticks kept breaking.

Every time you walked through the school hallways holding your wooden katana you made it was tightly bundled in cloth so no one knew what it was and that you were out of the way of teachers.

Dave however was not so subtle. You once saw a teacher asking him what the bundle of cloth was and you could see him hesitating nervously shifting his sunglasses.

You then ran up to them and said to Dave "Great, you brought the fabric for our art project," The teacher then walked away looking suspiciously. You and Dave then headed for the roof.

"Thanks for what you did back there, it was really cool," Dave said to you. "No problem," you said giving him a fist pump.
Then you hit him on the head, "you couldn't have been more obvious. Do you wanna take another trip to the principle's office?" You said walking on forward. "Ow, that was totally uncool." Dave replied. You looked back and stuck your tongue out at him. "I'm so gonna get you for that," Dave said running after you.

You then ran as fast as you could through the school and was able to make your way to the roof but it didn't take long for Dave to catch up with you. Then he did he put you in a headlock and gave you a noogie. Your hair was in a complete mess to in return you just messed up Dave's hair as best as you could and the two of you fell to the ground laughing.

Then you pulled Dave's sunglasses off and put them on. "Looking cool?" You asked. Dave was stunned for a moment, then he said, "Yes, very cool."

You then realized that this was your first time seeing him without wearing his sunglasses. You looked in his eyes and you didn't see someone who was trying to be cool. You saw someone who was gentle and caring.

"You alright?" Dave asked interrupting your thoughts. "Sorry, I just spaced out for a moment," You replied "Don't worry 'bout it," Dave said taking back his sunglasses. "The world's not ready for your coolness just yet," putting them back on. You noticed you were blushing a bit and tried to hide it as best as you could.

You and Dave were practicing kendo less and started just talking more on the roof during lunchtime. You felt that even though both of you were best friends you never really knew him till now. You even stopped calling him Strider and now always called him Dave.

One day on the roof during lunchtime when you and Dave were talking he said, "there's a meteor shower tonight and my apartment has an awesome view. Would you like to come over and watch it with me?" "Yeah, totally" You replied without hesitation.

You have always been fascinated in the wonders of the night sky and it would only make it better if you got to watch the meteor shower with someone else as fascinated as you. "And bring your real katana with you," Dave said before walking off to class.

That evening you arrived at Dave's door, katana and all. Then he also grabbed his katana and led to you the roof of the building. At first the two of you were very cautious about using real blades to fight. But it didn't take long for both of you to really get into the fight. It was the most intense battle you've ever had.

You and Dave fought till sundown and decided to stop when you could barely see your katanas. Then both of you lay down on the roof and looked up at the sky. It was beautiful without a cloud in sight.

The two of you were pointing out the different constellations of the night sky and telling each other different stories about them until you saw a small streak of light in the dark blue sky.

You closed your eyes and silently wished that Dave would be your best friend forever and you would be better at him then kendo. When you opened your eyes you were amazed to see many more beautiful lights dancing across the sky. You felt that you could stay up on the roof for the entire night.

A cold breeze blew by that made you shiver and Dave put his arm around you "better?" he asked. "Yeah, thanks," you said pressing up close to his side. You felt very warm and comfortable then you slowly drifted off to sleep in Dave's arms.

When you woke up you found yourself on Dave's bed. You rolled over and figured out you just rolled off the bed. You braced yourself to hit the floor but you didn't. Instead you fell on top of Dave. You startled him and he woke up with a jolt. You realized he must have been sleeping next to the bed all night. It made you feel sort of bad. You realized your were sort of in an awkward position and both of your faces turned bright red. "Sorry" you said. "Click," both of you looked over at the door and saw Dave's bro with a camera. "That's definitely a keeper," he said walking out of the door. "Hey, you better go delete that," You said. "I'm going to fucking kill you," Dave shouted. Both of you grabbed your katanas and ran after Dirk.
